STAFF FIVE FAVORITES: JOSH

KSUBI Mozart Tee. $172. SOLD OUT.
“A lot of creative thought went into the graphic design of this. This is so genius to me, classical composers written in heavy metal band logos. We have Mozart as Metallica, Bach as The Cramps, Beethoven as Iron Maiden, Stravinsky as Suicidal Tendencies, Mahler as The Misfits, and Frederich Chopin as Judas Preist. This tee requires homework!!!

NICE COLLECTIVE Cottom Puffer Jacket. SOLD OUT.
“This is the perfect “Puffy” style jacket for the low-key guy. The details are all subtle (such as removable sleeves) as is the fabric (no shine!). This has the perfect amount of down filling which keeps away all those Michelin man comments (those aren’t even funny anyway).

DARYL K Silk Shell Coat. SOLD OUT.
“This is absolutely beautiful in shape and has to be the softest item (90% silk and 10% spandex) in the whole store! Great for you ladies that are into Japanese or Belgian designers (I love those ladies).”

OBEDIENT SONS Morning Jacket. $1375. SOLD OUT. Pictured with SUPERFINE “Nails” tee.
“My friend/coworker owns this jacket and recently let me borrow it to wear to a concert at a fancy Symphony Hall. I wore it to about 20 different places after the concert just to show it off before returning it to him the next night. For 24 hours…i felt like I actually had some class!”

KSUBI Willy Sunglasses $179.
“These are of course inspired by the classic Ray-Ban Wayfarer that have come back in style yet again. This Ksubi pair has it’s own distinct shape and are excellent quality.”

I’m Josh and I am the ian blog guy, among other things. If you think the jokes on here suck…that’s my fault.
LEON’S FAVORITES.

PS PAUL SMITH Fishtail Sleeve Suit. $595 Jacket. $235 Pant.
Leon says, “Great fit ‘off the rack’ and modern detailing make this a great suit for the Holiday party season. The one-button jacket and slim pants keep things fresh while the pique stitching single vent give a nod to classic tailoring.

STONE ISLAND Giaccone Jacket. SOLD OUT.
“This jacket has amazing construction and fit. The technical aspects of the outer shell will help keep you warm and dry on those rainy autumn/winter days.”

GILDED AGE Organic Cotton Gotham Jean. $374.
“This is probably my favorite line in the store right now. These garments are sewn and dyed in Japan using Old World, laborious processes which creates finishes and fits like no other!”

NICE COLLECTIVE Crew Neck Vent Sweater. $350. SOLD OUT.
“Great military-inspired details and a slightly slouchy fit make this easily one of the coolest pieces we’ve received this season.”

C.P. COMPANY Zip Cardigan. $289. SOLD OUT.
“What’s better than a chunky wool sweater to keep you warm? This has great detailing at the shoulder seams and a slimming fit which creates a great silhouette.”

This is Leon. He is the manager at our shiny new Fremont shop and has been with us for over 2 years. His quiet but very personable disposition lends to the welcoming environment of the store, yet he’ll probably hate that I wrote this much about him. (Butch)
SHAWN’S FIVE FAVORITES!

SUPERFINE Sly Silver Jean. SOLD OUT.
According to Shawn, “As a fan of all things glitter and metallic, I had to pick these Superfine skinnies. Hedi Slimane would be proud.”

KSUBI Glow-in-the-Dark Spider Web Tee. SOLD OUT.
”This shirt takes me back to my bedroom as a child. Remember those glow in the dark stars you could put up on the ceiling? I had about 80 of them. Bed time had never been so much fun.”

KSUBI Galaxy Tee Dress. $156. SOLD OUT.
“I love the contrast between the flowing cotton and organic nature of the garment mixed with a futuristic print. Hats off to the woman who has the sense of humor to dare in this frock.”

OBEDIENT SONS Continental Pant. SOLD OUT.
“Obedient Sons has been a surprise favorite of mine this season, providing slender cuts to traditional tailoring. These pants will make you feel like Tom Ford! Watch out!”

DARYL K Silk Charmeuse Leggings. SOLD OUT.
“Though we have been seeing leggings for a few seasons now this extra-comfy pair in silk charmeuse is a definite standout. With its velcro stirrup and extra long inseam, Daryl is giving an effect that channels both Balenciaga and goth alike.”

Ladies and gents…we give you SHAWN. He is a downtown ian mainstay. He’s been working in our shops for over 3 years. He goes by DJ GLITTERPANTS when he’s spinning (all on vinyl!!!!!!! Check out Christina’s dog Nash! Nash is way radder than most little yappy dogs. He is pictured here due to his mama’s camera shyness. Anyway, Christina is our newest staff member and she’s a staple of our newest shop located in Fremont. We scored her in a very successful trade during the recent Seattle Fashion Salespeople draft of 2007. She’ s like our Shaq!!!!
IAN STAFF FIVE FAVORITES: BUTCH.
(Ed.)Most of our Fall/Winter clothes are here and on full display. After seeing many customers (and ourselves) in all the pieces, we have become pretty knowledgable as a staff. We’re pretty good about knowing ‘what fits who’ and the such. So without further adieu we’d like to introduce our new blog subject EMPLOYEE FAVORITES. Everybody will get a turn. BUTCH is up first!!!!

1. PAUL SMITH RED EAR ’ Purple and Green African Selvage jean (J6RU-629E-870) ’$298. “The thread was made exclusively for the jean; then it was dipped 8 times in indigo followed by a yellow wash. Simply beautiful….”

2. PAUL SMITH ‘ STARR Suede Wing tip (S6XC-1006-WSU). SOLD OUT. ”I’m really glad that we stuck with the PS shoes. This is Paul at his best; immaculate construction with a little whimsy thrown in ( note the worn in toes). Looks best with jeans and cords.”

3. SUPERFINE ‘Nick Egan for Superfine “Union Jack” tee‘ $140 NOW $49! “I love this one for the punk rock reference ( Nick Egan designed the Sex Pistols “Nevermind the Bollocks” LP cover). The cut is generous and the cotton is super-soft.”

4. ENGINEERED GARMENTS ‘Fishing Jacket‘ $415. SOLD OUT. ”I love, love, LOVE this line (and from the look of what is left, so do you)! Once again, superior details; the seams, the tweed lining, the hidden pockets, the not-so-hidden tackle pocket( which is removable)….this will be the jacket that you will have forever, and the one your kids will steal from your closet over and over again.”
5. TROVATA ‘Altruist Button Down; ”Blue Gingham check” ‘ $141. “The gingham is very French to me. The fit is slim and the red threading detail on this seasons’ shirts make them stand out above the other labels out there.” ITEM HAS SOLD OUT.

(Ed.) This is BUTCH. He is a very gentle giant and we love him. He has a virtual P.h.D. in all things denim. If you need someone to break it down for you about selvage, stone washing, or breaking in a new pair of denim…this is your dude!!! He’s been with us for over 4 years and he dwells in our downtown shop on 2nd Ave.
