NEW ARRIVAL: SEAVEES SHOES

Originated in 1964, the Seavees brand became synonymous with California cool.  Sturdy deck shoes with soles by B.F. Goodrich, the label was worn by kids, adults, celebrities and non-celebrities alike; and has become a true heritage brand along the vein of Sperry Top Sider and Keds to name a few.

Three years ago, Steven Tiller and Derek Galkin, both from famous footwear companies (Stride Rite and Medium, respectively), decided to collaborate and reincarnate the brand.  But they are quick to say that its not just another revival; but a “respectful rehabilitation”, adding “modern technique to vintage- inspired styling”.

We are happy to announce that we are now carrying Seavees here at ian; and are extremely excited about the styles that have arrived! We now have three deck shoes, two of which are part of a collaboration with Pantone, the leading authority on color…

Seavees ’05/66′* Suede Slip-On in Navy; $135

Seavees ’09/63*  Pantone Oxford’ in White Canvas;$125  Simplicity at its best. You understand why Michael Williams of A Contiuous Lean has these on his list as one of his ‘Wants & Desires”…

Seavees ’09/63*  Pantone Oxford’ in Black Suede ; $125 (simply delicious…you need to see these up close…)

We also snagged a couple of the boots and shoes from the awesome Fall 09 collection as well…

Seavees ’02/60*  7 Eye Trail Boot’ in Trail; $210

Seavees ’10/61* 2 Eye Oxford’ in Brandy; $170

*Fun Fact: the style numbers are actually dates of unique events ie. “2/60 signifies the opening of the VIII Winter Olympic Games in Squaw Valley, California in February of 1960… Grab a little piece of history; and enjoy some really sweet shoes!
